The Beauty of Freckles

According to Lele

I see my freckles as little baby kisses given to me from the sunshine.

Throughout the summer my freckle collection grows larger and larger; they act as a roadmap of my adventures. I have grown to love them, but that wasn’t always the case.

I have had freckles all of my life and it as been an on-going battle. When I was younger I never saw people with freckles in magazines or ads. I always thought that they were seen as flaws that needed to be covered up. This is also when I was and everyone around me was going through puberty, so I was very self conscious that they would come off as pimples.

In recent years I have learned to ramp up my skincare so that I don’t feel the need to use fuller coverage foundations. This allows me to use light coverage or even just spot concealing.

The faux freckle trend is an interesting one. As someone who as freckles it doesn’t bother me that people are trying to achieve that look; honestly, I’m honored, but I do have some thoughts.

The issue I have with this is that it is creating a stigma around freckles that is a fad or trend. This makes it feel as though freckles will soon not be ‘in style.’ Some of us can’t turn it on and off. I just hope that we don’t regress and see them as anything but beautiful.

What I love most about my Freckles:

  • They’re cute

  • They make me look younger

  • No two people have the same pattern

  • They change through the seasons
